Originally from Rotterdam, baker Peter van Beek moved the New Zealand in 1998. He brought with him 30 years’ experience in the trade. In 2001 Picton Village Bakkerij was opened and since then it has won many awards including New Zealand’s best South Island bakery, which was won multiple times.

Picton Village Bakkerij currently has a second shop in Blenheim. Peter has gradually introduced more Dutch specialties to satisfy local demand.
